The competent crew member qualification is an entry-level qualification and can be studied for with knowledge of yacht handling.
A competent crew member is the first mate of the captain on a yacht.
The following subjects are included in the training course:
Yacht construction, nautical terminology.
Safety
Route planning
Working with ends, knotting.
Deck work with sails
Actions when mooring
Basic knowledge of sailing a yacht under sail
Basic knowledge of sailing under power
Actions during man overboard procedure
Ace management
